Other people, like the 5 year old in the row in front
of me, enjoyed this movie much more than I did but I can't write their
reviews. I can only write my review. I fell asleep. More than once.
This movie was really boring. The plot is a little Star
Wars mixed with a lot of Babylon
5 and quite a bit of The
Wrath of Khan at the end. This is the story of a young boy who
along with the rest of humanity is forced to blastoff from the Earth just
before it is destroyed for no established reason by some bad aliens.
The bad aliens are upset that the boy's father has built a big spaceship
aka Titan AE. They are so upset that they are still hunting for the boy,
his father and the big spaceship as we jump ahead 15 years. The main
part of the plot is played out as the boy searches for the spaceship just
one step ahead of the bad aliens. You get the idea. There is no writing
to speak of. Various Hollywood stars such as Matt Damon and Drew
Barrymore do the voices. The only stand out is the female character
who plays the love interest. She actually gets to do something other than
get into trouble and scream. She flies the spaceship. Titan AE is
an animated film which mixes low rent computer graphics a la Babylon
5 with Saturday morning cartoon style figures. This is not a
good mix. The very two dimensional characters look like they were
pasted onto the top of the 3D computer graphics. And as they move
or run, their legs barely move. This is animation is barely better than
South Park. As I said,
this isn't my kind of movie...
